Joe Gomez is that guy! He has friends, good grades and even plays in a band. Unbeknownst to him, he learns that he is a reincarnation of a legendary creature called a Chimera. Life as he knows it is over, when others creatures of the same nature come to seek him out. Will Joe be able to stay alive long enough to reach his full potential and save the day! My favorite thing about Urban Animal is Joe. Throughout the story, his personality stays the same. And considering the situation he’s been thrown head first into, he’s been handling everything pretty damn well- like a bawse ( boss).
I think what has impressed me the most about Joe is his selflessness. He doesn’t want any of this but he accept his role, with some help but he does it none the less. And even with limited control, or knowledge is tries to hardest to rise to the occasion. Some success but plenty of bumps along the way.
Another element that I really love about Urban Animal is the strong comradary between the characters, Joe is selfless and willing to risk it all for people he deems important. In the same breathe they are willing to do the same and show up when it counts. I’m really loving what I’ve read so far.
