Basara also known as The Legend of Basara created by Yumi Tamura. Yumi is also known for 7 Seeds. I have always loved her storytelling and art so i’d naturally be attracted to her work. She also won an award for Basara. Yumi won the Shogakukan Manga Award for shoujo in 1992.

This manga is a Shojo manga set in the future around the end of the 21st century. if you can appreciate the old art drawings then you will love this. I really can’t express how much I love Sarasa and Shuri ( Pictured above) I love them and the obstacles they have to face over the course of the 27 volumes. That’s right 27 volumes and it was entertaining from beginning to end.I first read this when i was in Jr. high school the manga ran from 1990 – 1998 and I continue to re-read it at least once a year because it’s one of my favorite stories to remember. The adventure you go on with the characters is so fun it was hard to put it down.it has influenced a lot of my views on life and love over the last few years reading this manga has created the person i am today  i have learned some good valuable lessons from this manga this is why i recommend it.

There is an 13 episode anime of Basara somewhere out there I have yet to find it so when i do i will post an update but i’m pretty sure the anime wouldn’t do any justice.
I don’t want to far into the story because that’s no fun spoiling it.
Add Basara onto your next read list.
