Happy New Year!

Last year, I compiled a list of my favorite K-Pop (Korean Pop) songs from that year. This year, I decided to do something little bit different, and focus on the little guy. Seeing how this is my first post of the New Year, I wanted to make it count. So it was very important that it felt authentic. These songs were all chosen based on feeling. And how often I went back to play then after my initial excitement was gone.

LUCID DREAM – TFR

LUCID DREAM is a narrative. Outside of that, It is a tale of someone trying to navigate their way through situations that to most people would see as hopeless. And instead of accepting this, your true grit shows and fight for what the changes you on want. Sometimes, This is easier said than done because possible derailment is still a thing. This is so relate-able. We all go through ups and down but the comeback or the attempt is more important than anything.

GAIJIN 外人- KAZOU

Kazou is a bilingual rapper, he spits in both Japanese and English. Gaijin is a glow up story. Kazou takes us on a lyrical journey reflecting on his past and highlighting his present. This is a song of celebration.

Under – Noveliss

Lyricism, excellent production, and visuals that trigger a feeling of nostalgia. If you’re a fan of lyricism and Jazz influenced production, Samurai Champloo or anime in general. You will definitely get a kick out of this.

Uzurap – Uzuhan

I loved this song. It’s fun and it’s catchy. The music video is also pretty entertaining. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Genki Dama – Sage, The 64th Wonder

Sage is one of my favorite rappers. His production is always on point with bars to boot. I’ve been following him since the beginning of his career. And I’m always excited to sew what he does next. Genki Dama provides another animated experience that you can easily bop to.

I’M STILL HERE – Heesun Lee

I’M STILL HERE is a song I really enjoyed because of the subject matter. Songs that tell someone’s story, especially when they feel honest are some of my favorites. So if you want to hear some solid rapping, smooth vocals and support Women in Hip Hop. You’ll want to check this out.
