KickFlamez is a Rapper, videographer and visionary from Huntsville Alabama. Alike many of the artist I’ve spotlighted via this platform, he is a contemporary nerd core artist. The influence of Anime, Gaming and other nerd related topics are prevalent in his artistry. Not just musically but it’s represented visually as well.
Flamez and I, talk often and usually when he drops something major he asks me for feedback. Instead of just telling him out right what I think. He’ll have read this time and find out for himself.
Bruce Lee is Flamez’s version of Nicki Minaj’s Chun-Li. Similar format and braggadocious in nature. High energy, playful and his signature sound overall. You get some wordplay. Witty pop culture references. Punchlines. This song is hard-hitting. Definitely a very upbeat experience. There quite a bit to digest. Sonically, this was a pretty clean track. The mix suited it well.
The only major issues, I had with this song is the delivery on the later half of the song. I didn’t really like the Super Aggressive delivery, it was a bit too over the top for my liking but that’s more personal preference than anything else. It threw me off but the energy level was never inconsistent even during transitions. Though I do feel like a his cool guy persona from the first half was more effective. So as you can I have some mixed feelings.
While I do like this song better than the original and feel it’s definitely worth checking out but the main reason I decided to do this write up is because the video is visually stunning. Were talking green screen style effects in the background. Viral video clips. Special effects and a few really cool camera angles. Anime characters galore. It’s like Fooly Cooly or a Parody Anime in music video format. I’d say it was pretty entertainment. Plus the Yu Yu Hakusho love is appreciated.
With that being said, I’ll post the video below. As per usual, check it out and let me know what you think.
