Voice Over Talent at Anime NYC 2018: Part 1

Anime NYC LogoCrunchyroll has used their industry connections to the fullest.  Anime NYC is only in its second year and its list of guests is stacked.  As a person who is fascinated with sound, this is something that has caught my interest.  There an even a point in my life where I wanted to pursue voice over as a career. These folks have my utmost love and respect.

This list was pretty long so I divided it into two.  Welcome to part one.

Masakazu Morita 

Seiyuu Morita has been in the entertainment industry for close to 20 years. Known for his work as Ichigo Kurosaki in BLEACH, Whis from  Dragon Ball Super, and Tidus of Final Fantasy X which was his first voice-over role.


Mayumi Shintani

Mayumi Shintani is a professional actress from the theater group Nylon 100°c.  Along with her impressive visual resume she has created a lane for herself within the Japanese animation industry as a voice actress. Her debut role: Tsubasa Shibahime in His and Her Circumstances. Other notable roles Haruko Haruhara in FLCL and Nonon Jakuzure in Kill la Kill.


Setsuo Ito

Setsuo Ito is a Japanese voice actor from Hokkaido. In a way, he’s the new kid on the block with the leading role of Shigeo Kageyama in Mob Psycho 100!  He’s also played Kenichi Iwami in Captain Tsubasa and voiced Regulus in the game Nostalgia (2014).


Toru Furuya

Toru Furuya is a legendary Japanese voice actor working in the animation industry for over 50 years. Furuya has worked on over 100 series and counting. Notable roles are Tuxedo Mask of Sailor Moon, Amuro Ray in Mobile Suit Gundam and Sabo of One Piece. Furuya credits span from classic anime more recent projects like the up and coming Eureka Seven movie.


Brittney Karbowski

Brittney Karbowski began voice acting right out of high school. Having her start at ADV Films when they were still afloat and later she joined the Funimation roster. Knowable roles are Black Star in Soul Eater, Pride in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Ryou in Clannad, Yuri in AngelBeats and Wendy In Fairytale. Recent work: Popuko in Pop Team Epic, Hisako in Food Wars, Hitoka Yachi in Haikyuu, and Camie in My Hero Academia!


Bryce Papenbrook

Bryce has performed roles in video games, cartoons, and television show since he was 8 years old. Recent roles include Eren in Attack on Titan, Kirito in Sword Art Online and Adrien aka Cat Noir in Miraculous Ladybug. Other appearances in Call of Duty: Ghosts, Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures, Power Rangers Megaforce Game, and Fire Emblem Awakening.


Chris Hackney

Chris Hackney is an American voice actor from Florida. Known for his work in K Project, Hunter x Hunter, Gundam SEED and Bungou Stray Dogs.


Cristina Vee

Cristina Vee is an American voice-over actress, singer, producer, and director. She’s known for her work as Homura Akemi, Mio Akiyama, Kotori Minami in Love Live!, Hawk in The Seven Deadly Sins and Killua Zoldyck in Hunter x Hunter. She can also be heard in Magi, Naruto, Tiger & Bunny, Knights of Sidonia and Steven Universe.


Cherami Leigh

Cherami Leigh has been in the industry for 20 years. Credits include Lucy in Fairy Tail,  Road in D. Gray-man, Lizzie in Black Butler and Patty in Soul Eater. She also voices Tome in Mob Psycho 100, Kudelia in Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, Illia in RWBY, and Makoto in Persona 5.


David Wald

Wald began voice-acting career began in 2005 with ADV Films’ Shadow Skill. He continued his voice-over career working with Sentai Filmworks and Funimation, later on stepping into the role of ADR director and scriptwriter. He’s been cast as Bulat in Akame Ga Kill, Tetsutetsu and Snipe in My Hero Academia, Master Chief in Halo: Legends, Reiji in Diabolik Lovers, Mutsumi in Kiss Him, Not Me!, King Victor in The Royal Tutor and Count Magnus in Vampire Hunter D.
