The team and I recently attended the Liberty City Anime Convention in New York City.  For the sake of tradition, we always try and attend at least one concert while attending a convention.   This time around we had the opportunity to attend the Psyche Corporation show.
Psyche Corporation is a cyber/steampunk band fronted by a cooky powerhouse vocalist. Their sound is very electronically heavy which is common of cyber punk music.  Psyche Corp. is also from the future.  There named after a dream manufactured group. In a world where, people are able to download dreams from the internet using neural implants.

And No, I am not making this shit up.  It’s on her website.
From that point own, I knew this concert was going to get quite strange. And it definitely was.  Then she took her act a step future.  She admitted that her music held hidden messages. Which wasn’t that much of a stretch.

The music was dark. In other moments very conversational. And very fairy tale esque in it’s sound and performance. I felt like watching a play unfold rather then a concert. Or cross between a burlesque and ballet recital- arguably at least.

It was sort of like we were transported elsewhere while in that darken room with dim florescence lights.  Like some type of disillusioned reality- a genjutsu of sorts.  I spent the majority of the concert totally confused. I’d also like to add the fact that everything was in English.  I really couldn’t grasp my head around anything.

One of the most memorable things for me at this show was definitely the music.
A cover of Edgar Allan Poe’s Annabel Lee was performed.

As well as a song about a political uprising and a haunted hotel with talking walls. These all sound like movie premises.  And based on what I read about them, I feel like this was intention. And this is just one layer added too the spectacle known as Psyche Corp.
I thoroughly had a good time. So much so, that I needed answers. So I purchased two of her CD on the spot.
If she shows up on a bill at convention or an event near you. I highly suggest checking out a performance.

For more info you can check out her website:

You can also find her on Soundcloud, Twitter and YouTube.  Itunes, CD Baby, Amazon and other places where music can be found.

Shout out to Drey for the wonderful pictures.  More will be uploaded under the photography tag.

Until next time.
