5 Best Anime With an Overpowered Protagonist

Every once in a while, we all enjoy watching an overpowered main character. If I am willing to put myself in some protagonist’s shoes, I might as well feel completely badass, right?

In addition, anime enthusiasts enjoy the abundance of stunning women and action-packed sequences that can be found in most anime series with an OP MC.

With that being said, here are our top picks for the finest anime series with an overpowered main character!

5. I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level

There are dozens of isekai produced each season with hardly anything new in terms of uniqueness to be discovered. That’s actually where I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level begs to differ.

In this series, a corporate slave dies of exhaustion and reincarnates as an immortal being in a fantasy world. She has been killing slimes peacefully for at least three centuries. This stereotype is abruptly disrupted when she realizes she has reached level 99—the highest possible level—through slimes alone. The rumors quickly spread, and many people seek her for a multitude of reasons!

There is no long-term goal, no major antagonist to defeat in order to return home, and no grand goal. It gives off lighthearted and relaxing vibes and it’s a great pick for your light watches.

4. The Greatest Demon Lord Is Reborn as a Typical Nobody

While some state that this anime is cliché, it’s another relaxing and wholesome reincarnation show with the usual overpowered MC story. Although the tone is generally upbeat, some difficulties do arise in order to foster future optimism.

The protagonist of this show is The Demon Lord Varvatos, the most powerful entity in history, who chooses to reincarnate as a magically weaker version of himself since he is unhappy with his current life. He will inevitably discover that, despite the fact that his reincarnation as a commoner was successful, the quality of demons has fallen so low that, even when he holds back, he is still too overpowered!

3. No Game No Life

One of the most well-known isekai ever to air was No Game No Life in 2014. It’s hardly surprising that it’s still relevant today given its modest but lovable cast of characters, bright colors, and compelling moments. In the sea of several isekai that are produced each year, it still maintains its initial appeal.

Sora and Shiro, a pair of NEET siblings who despise reality, are the two main characters who dominate the story. They are renowned for being incredibly skilled and unbeatable in a famous online multiplayer game.

One day, they knowingly accept a bizarre e-mail challenge to play chess and win, only to be transferred to a different world where Tet, the God of Games, awaits them. They learn during Tet’s brief presentation that everything in this weird and enigmatic world is resolved through playing games, and that magic prevents physical injury.

The unstoppable pair of siblings have a brand-new ambition: they want to become gods in this new world!

2. Overlord

Overlord’s plot is a dream come true for almost every gamer.

The main character of Overlord is your typical enthusiastic gamer that enjoys spending time in the virtual reality game called Yggdrasil. Sadly, everything good eventually comes to an end, and Yggdrasil is no exception. He logs in one final time to say farewell after it is announced that the game’s servers will be shut down.

However, he is not forcibly logged out; rather, he gets trapped in the virtual reality game right after the servers are shut down! Additionally, each NPC develops its own personality.

Now it’s up to him to dominate this realm.

1. One Punch Man

With only 12 episodes, One Punch Man is a relatively short anime series that is quick & easy to consume.

It’s brilliant, as many others have said, and I concur. It parodies every common trope seen in shonen/action anime. Among the main reasons that make fans adore it are its terrific humor, fantastic supporting cast, and, of course, a protagonist who is absurdly powerful. Imagine a man who has the power to defeat anything and everyone with a single punch!
