The Genre of Horror-Comedy Anime with Mierko-Chan ⋆ Soulcial Dreamin' Ent.

A horror fan favorite binge watch can sum up Mierko-Chan for me.

I love the horror genre and how someones mind works to tell the story in any way I know Omoki Izumi made a entertaining anime that I need to look into more recent horror anime and manga to help fill this new itch I have to watch more horror. I throughly enjoy mieruko trying her hardest to ignore the ghosts that appear next to her and I honestly wanted to know what would happen if she did acknowledge the less scary ghosts like the one from the school that said good morning or maybe the one at the haunted house. I did have those thoughts but I’m actually happy with the way the anime went.

I want to check out the manga in case something didn’t make it into the anime. I see it was still ongoing and look forward to the future releases of the manga. I don’t think the anime is going to get another season but I believe it should get at least 2 or 3 to kind of figure out what is going on and for grandma to come around and show off her skills. Mind you I’m saying all this without reading the manga and I will be grabbing the first 3 volumes and working my way through to see how this story plays out because I’m curious about it and how things play out or if there. is a ending.

I have a favorite and it’s Hana she’s so me! I relate to her always being hungry and wanting to snack on something I also think that her aura being able to fry some of the ghosts was so on brand for her character she was so innocent and cute I loved that dynamic being added in with Mieruko. Seeing Yuria for the first time peeking around the corner I knew she was a wierdo and I love me a good weirdo like her. She was so cute and funny making friends with the girls and feeling apart of a friend group I felt that one personally and when she made their picture her phone screen I jumped for joy for her I was so happy she was feeling like she belonged.

Can we talk about Mieruko choking her out in the gym closet after they introduced themselves. Hands down the funniest scene in the entire series because nothing can top how crazy that actually is when thinking about it. There’s no way the first time we meet each other face to face and you end up choking me out and putting me in the nurses office and I turn around and become apart of your friend group, we honestly have to fight just to even it out the embarrassment. I couldn’t be friends with Mieruko after that but Yuria right in to the weird friends club.

Overall I want to give this anime a 2 and 1/2 clouds (stars) out of 5 clouds and I think it was just missing the exploration of Mieruko figuring out why she can see ghosts. If we even touched a bit of it within the 12 episodes I think I would have rated it higher because it’s what was missing to me. I have more questions than answers since finishing the anime. Who was the entities from the shrine? Why can Mieruko see ghosts in the first place? Her family doesn’t seem to see ghosts so it’s probably not passed down.

Why grandma left her shop? Why she didn’t come back? Is she related to Yuria since she was always at the shop? Just because grandma experienced Mieruko being somewhat powerful with the beads breaking and seeing the ghost following them, that was never truly explained. I just got a bunch of questions I want to be answered and I hope that when I get into the manga for the series there’s more explanation for me to feel satisfied because the anime had a lot of potential that it didn’t reach and I’m just waiting for more but I know its not going to happen since the anime aired in 2021. I’ve accepted it but I’m really hoping the manga just fills in the holes for me.

I would recommend the anime if I didnt have more questions about the series but to help the literacy problem we’re experiencing in America I will recommend reading the manga. The manga usually always gives the fuller story than any anime will.
