Nerds in Brooklyn: Brooklyn Comic Con 2026

Brooklyn Comic Con 2026

This year, I had the pleasure of attending Brooklyn Comic Con 2026 on Saturday, June 5. BKCC was a single-day event.  One of the things I always appreciated about Brooklyn Comic Con is that it is a family-friendly event, which creates a more laid-back atmosphere.  Even with all the excitement and fanfare, it always feels like chill.

One of the more interesting things about this year was the choice of venue. Or rather, the use of three different venues (The Meadows, Brooklyn Monarch, and The Wood Shop) and an extension onto Bogart Street, affectionately dubbed The Block.  Artists and vendors of all kinds lined the streets.  Remarkable Wrestling returned with themed wrestling matches.  There were also LARP (Live Action Roleplay) Sessions by Dagohir Larping, who have been present in previous years.

Gaming was also prevalent throughout the convention, and The Meadows was the gaming hall’s stage.  I meant, aesthetically but also physically, there was a stage.  Gaming Lounge boosted a slew of retro games and gaming tournaments.  We’re talking fan-favorite titles like Smash 64, Mario Kart 64, and more recent ones like Rock Band.  As well as installations by Wonderville Arcade, featuring indie games from local developers.

Brooklyn Monarch is where they hosted the main stage. I stumbled into lip sync battles and more games.  I played Dead on Alive on a PS One console for the first time and got my ass handed to me repeatedly.   A PlayStation 4 was also present, and two other consoles were set up in a lounge-esque area.  You could also find the Sexy Nerds Bodega, which acted as an information counter and a store selling branded merch.

The Wood Shop featured a little lounge area and arena for this year’s live performances. Featuring a lineup of artists that embodies the essence of Brooklyn Comic Con. Tha Gata Negrra, Six to One Band, Back from Zero and Sawf Sisters, Daniel Michaels’ music, and Dex McBean.

Cosplay Brooklyn Comic Con 2026

This wouldn’t be a convention post without my cosplay ramblings—everything from Superheroes and Professional Wrestlers to Anime protagonists. Brooklyn Comic Con got it.  All skill levels were represented, from elaborate, professional-quality cosplay to more budget-friendly options like store-bought or closet cosplays.  Everyone looked amazing!!!  Brooklyn Comic Con is a Cosplay Convention, and my reason is not only because of the large number of featured cosplayers. But also, because one of their main events is the Cosplay Runaway.

The Cosplay Runway is a cosplay photoshoot set with fans as the backdrop and a red carpet rolled out for superstar treatment. Every cosplayer is welcome and encouraged to strut their stuff, and it’s a fun time all around. This year, there was also a cosplay competition. Other notable activities are demonstrations by the NY Sumo Club. Summer Jam, the Cons’ official afterparty. Open Karaoke and more.

Last thought on Brooklyn Comic Con 2026

When I go to Conventions, I make a point of picking up indie comics.  But this time around, I didn’t do much shopping, though I did manage to snag issue 1 of The Runaways: Secret Invasion.  Which I didn’t even know existed until that day. The Runaways are my favorite group of rage-tag teenage heroes.  It felt like it was meant to be.

This year was so laid back. I did spend quite a bit of time outside, and that was an adjustment.  But in terms of layout, the outdoor space was convenient. The vendors were spaced out really well, and we still had enough room as con-goers to move through the area freely, even with a Wrestling Ring and a LARP play space. I had a great time at Brooklyn Comic Con 2026. Shout out to the Sexy Nerds for providing a one-of-a-kind experience.
